An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join a well-established business based in Thurles. With a strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence, the company provides recycling solutions and environmental services to customers across Ireland.

The Role: what does the job involve?

  • Manage the daily operations of the recycling facility, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Plan and coordinate daily collection routes for waste oil and oil filter collection drivers.
  • Process collection orders and complete all associated documentation, including driver paperwork, waste transfer forms, sales invoices, and supplier records.
  • Manage customer payments and actively follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Supervise staff, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and compliant site.
  • Organise outbound loads for non-ferrous metals and waste batteries.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, including staff training, driver certifications, and manual handling procedures.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules for plant, equipment, and machinery.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage reporting requirements, including local authority submissions, environmental compliance reporting, waste management documentation, and annual regulatory returns.
  • Prepare and analyse operational reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.

The Candidate:

  1. Experience in an operations management, logistics, recycling, waste management, or environmental services role.
  2. Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  3. Experience supervising teams and driving operational performance.
  4. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
  5. Excellent administrative, reporting, and documentation skills.
  6. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems.
  8. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
